Week 7- Catapult STEAM project

Hey whanau,

This week the children are learning about how to build catapults.

To know they are successful they will show the following in Reading, Writing and Maths

Reading: the children will be able to visualise what a catapult is through reading the text

Writing: the children will be able to elaborate on their ideas using examples and feelings

Maths: To use arrays to solve our multiplication equations and transfer this skill to our DMIC

Reading work:

This weeks reading you are learning to visualise the text

Learning intention:
  -how to build a catapult
  -trying
To use your mind and visualise what you will be making with the catapult
Successful: How can you show this?

The text
How did you visualise what you are building

Choose another text to read

Learning intention:  To read the text and summarise it in my own words

Successful:  How can I show that I can do this?

The text I read

Our DMIC Followup work
Here you will find the word problem to help you with your DMIC project.

Whakapono 24 is doing a STEM project.  It is to build a roller coaster out of straws.  There are 7 groups and each group needs 21 straws.  How many straws does Mr Savage need to buy for the class?

Show your working out here:

20+20+20+20+20+20+20=140
1+1+1+1+1+1+1=7
140+7=147
