Term 2- Week 9 PB4L

Addition to our team building.  Whakapono revisited the 9 weeks PB4L plan (Positive Behaviour 4 Learning)

The areas we have covered this week was
- Greeting visitors
- Playground (Whakapono)
- Field
- Swimming pool
- Hall and assembly
- Travel to school

Greeting visitors

In Whakapono 24 we intend to make all visitors welcome. We believe in opening the door and greeting them.  We also believe we should invite them in.  Also showing good manners is we wait for the guest to enter any door in the school instead of rushing through the door before them.

Playground

To follow the PB4L way in the playground is to follow the playground rules.   Rules like: You must be in the right playground, You must play nicely with each other by using your PRIDE, use the equipment properly, and have fun.

Field

To use you the field for others to use.  Please, share the space.  Invite others to participate in your game.  If you see rubbish on the field, even if it is not yours pick it up. That we are all looking after our space.

Swimming

To use the swimming pool. Follow the school rule.  For example, do not dive or bomb into our shallow pool.  You may get hurt.  Swim with an adult or a trained swimming instructor.

Hall and Assembly

Reminder to use your PRIDE from your class to the hall.  By being in 2 straight lines with no talking.  Once you enter the hall reminder to keep both feet on the ground and walk in.  Keep in your lines to sit down and wait quietly to be instructed to do something else.

Travel to school

When travelling to school and your crossing the road remind yourself to look both ways before crossing the road.  Make sure you listen for cars and not to play I can run into a car and come better off.

Term 2- Week 9- Team Building

This week in Whakapono 24 we decided to follow on from our Key Competency from week 8 and do some team building.

The team building was called the Centipede.  The children had to work together to create out of paper, sellotape and scissors a wheel.  This wheel will need to fit their group members in it and be able to walk.

The final result :)

Term 2: Week 8- Key Competencies

In week 8 the children were learning about the Key Competency

Managing Self
Relating to Others
Using language, Symbol and text
Participate and Contributing
Thinking

We did it

TRUMP

First group Sophia, Zane, Qaid and Dakota, Thinking

To use a thinking tool to prepare for report writing.  Means to us you have to plan for information thinking about all the things needed to be in the information.

To think about everything you need to be successful.  In our class we have a lot of sport stars.  We know athletes need to use their measurement thinking, what is a good way to eat etc

Look at our learning and how we can progress to the next step.

Second group Peni, Amelia, Joseph, Raphael, Relating to others

To figure out what we are doing by behaving well around each other and bu active listening to each other it's alright to disagree by saying it nicely. To create a team you have to get used to them by responding in their conversation like this if they pick a different colour or a different kind of car.  You can say it in a nice way.  I would rather drive this car.  Because I know how to drive this one.

Third group, Dakshesh, Han, Samuel, Makirat, Kylah-Anne using language symbols and text

To use gestures to help communicate your ideas to friends and teachers.   They encourage each other to use symbols and text in our learning.  Especially writing punctuation.  When we go online there are symbols we use all the time like @.  Our school PRIDE values signs are also important to help us manage ourselves in school.

Fourth group Lui, Lupe, Joe, Shalom, Eugen: Managing Self

To set yourself goals like our three-way conferences.  To stay on task when you are in class and doing your work.

Fifth group: Mohammed, Ilaisaane, Kendra, Harley and Miley, Participate and Contribute.

We believe it is when we choose to participate in all learning activities.  We are able to contribute ideas to the group and class to help others learning.
